Fans around the world should mark their calendars as well. The MLS All-Star Skills Challenge will again be available to watch in the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, and around the world online through a multiplatform digital distribution. More details about where fans can watch the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge will be announced at a later date.
“The intensity escalates when it’s MLS vs. LIGA MX, and we can’t wait to bring that rivalry to the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge,” said Camilo Durana, MLS Senior Vice President, Properties and Events. “This year’s event will give fans in the stadium, and around the world, a chance to see the top stars in North America compete in a new environment, adding yet another dimension to our growing rivalry with LIGA MX and exciting programming to MLS All-Star week. We know it will be fun, but both squads will be out to win.”
Not only will the two teams compete in all three events from the 2019 edition,
Shooting, Passing, and Cross & Volley
, but this season will see the introduction of two additional events that will showcase the technical ability of each team:
The Touch Challenge
and
The Crossbar Challenge.
In the Touch Challenge, balls will be launched from varying distances and trajectories at each player to see who showcases ultimate ball control. Following Nani’s buzzer-beating crossbar finale from the 2019 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, this year the Crossbar Challenge will be a standalone competition helping to crown the 2020 winner. Fans should expect another epic ending as players’ accuracy is tested before time runs out.
Participating players for each team will be announced following the selection of each league’s All-Star roster. For more information about the 2020 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, or MLS All-Star Game presented by Target, please visit MLSsoccer.com.
