Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez voluntarily enters league's SABH program

Portland Timbers forward Brian Fernandez has voluntarily entered MLS’ Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health (ā€œSABHā€)  Program, the league announced Monday.


Fernandez will be unavailable for team activities until he has undergone an assessment and is cleared for participation by the SABH Program doctors.


The 25-year-old Argentine joined Portland on May 6 and has tallied 11 goals and 1 assist in 1,411 minutes since. He did not feature in Portland's 3-1 win over San Jose on Decision Day presented by AT&T after receiving an automatic suspension for a red card in his previous game.
