If the US national team called Landon Donovan, would the recently unretired Galaxy attacker be willing to suit up?
Yes â but with a caveat.
âIf I felt I could actually help and contribute? Then yeah, of course [Iâd suit up],â Donovan told The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday. âThatâs a million miles away, Iâve played a total of like 20 minutes now in two years.â
Donovan, who recently came out of retirement after nearly two years on the sideline to rejoin the Galaxy, has played in both of LAâs games since returning, coming off the bench for seven minutes in a win against Orlando City on Sept. 11 before scoring the equalizer as a substitute in LAâs 2-2 draw at Sporting Kansas City on Sunday.
MLSâ all-time leader in goals and assists, Donovan is the top scorer in US menâs national team history, recording 57 goals in 157 career appearances with the USMNT.
