The MLS Cup trophy has a new home and the party has only begun in Atlanta.
After Atlanta United owner Arthur Blank spilled the beans on a planned victory parade before the 2018 MLS Cup final, the real planning for the occasion can get underway.
Following the Five Stripes' 2-0 win over the Portland Timbers at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms confirmed on Twitter from the game on Saturday that the parade will take place on Monday.
As Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporter Doug Roberson first reported, the parade will begin at 10 am ET on Monday, followed by a championship celebration outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium that begins at noon.
The route starts at the corner of Baker and Peachtree Streets, and winds past Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium and CNN Center.
